E os 38 adultos e nove crian\u00e7as e adolescentes que vivem ali parecem mesmo estar num peda\u00e7o de terra perdido em alto-mar. Afinal, encontram-se isolados, praticamente incomunic\u00e1veis. Os abrigados pela institui\u00e7\u00e3o filantr\u00f3pica t\u00eam problemas como paralisia cerebral, s\u00edndrome de Down e autismo. Andrei Bastos, jornalista e integrante da Comiss\u00e3o de Direitos Humanos da se\u00e7\u00e3o Rio de Janeiro da Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil (OAB-RJ), chama a aten\u00e7\u00e3o para as m\u00e1s condi\u00e7\u00f5es do local:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211; A institui\u00e7\u00e3o funciona como um dep\u00f3sito de gente. N\u00e3o h\u00e1 atividades para estimular o desenvolvimento cognitivo dos abrigados. Al\u00e9m disso, rem\u00e9dios psicotr\u00f3picos, como Gardenal e Haldol, s\u00e3o aplicados de forma indevida em pessoas com autismo e s\u00edndrome de Down, por exemplo. Os funcion\u00e1rios mostram desconhecimento em rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0s diferen\u00e7as entre as defici\u00eancias.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Por\u00e9m, Bastos esclarece que n\u00e3o acha o fechamento do local uma boa solu\u00e7\u00e3o:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211; Nosso objetivo n\u00e3o \u00e9 pedir a interdi\u00e7\u00e3o da casa. Os internos n\u00e3o s\u00e3o maltratados e h\u00e1 higiene, o problema \u00e9 a falta de recursos t\u00e9cnicos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Segundo o integrante da Comiss\u00e3o de Direitos Humanos da OAB-RJ, a ideia \u00e9 enviar um dossi\u00ea sobre o abrigo para a secret\u00e1ria estadual de Direitos Humanos, Benedita da Silva:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211; Pediremos \u00e0 secret\u00e1ria que promova um interc\u00e2mbio entre a casa e institui\u00e7\u00f5es que tratam portadores de defici\u00eancia com funcion\u00e1rios capacitados. H\u00e1 outros passos importantes, como equipar o local com recursos tecnol\u00f3gicos, para que os abrigados possam fazer fisioterapia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A assistente social Fl\u00e1via Azevedo, coordenadora do projeto \u201cJusti\u00e7a m\u00f3vel para a primeira inf\u00e2ncia\u201d, vinculado \u00e0 Organiza\u00e7\u00e3o de Direitos Humanos Projeto Legal\u201d, tamb\u00e9m questiona o tratamento aplicado na Casa Abrigo Betel:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211; Os adultos e as crian\u00e7as n\u00e3o t\u00eam conviv\u00eancia familiar ou comunit\u00e1ria. Suas habilidades n\u00e3o s\u00e3o exploradas.
