Tamb\u00e9m n\u00e3o havia estudos que mostrassem o quanto essas pessoas podem se desenvolver. Assim, se o beb\u00ea nascia com a s\u00edndrome, em geral, o caso era relatado pelo m\u00e9dico como uma trag\u00e9dia, e os pais tinham poucas fontes para se informar sobre como agir com a crian\u00e7a.<\/p>\n<p>At\u00e9 a expectativa de vida de portadores da s\u00edndrome era tida como reduzida. Na d\u00e9cada de 80, uma pessoa com Down n\u00e3o vivia mais de 30 anos.
