O Brasil \u00e9 um dos que realiza mais eventos na data e por essa raz\u00e3o a <a href=\"http:\/\/federacaodown.org.br\/site\/\">Federa\u00e7\u00e3o Brasileira das Associa\u00e7\u00f5es de S\u00edndrome de Down (FBASD)<\/a> pediu em 2010 o apoio do governo brasileiro para que a data entrasse no calend\u00e1rio oficial da ONU. O dia \u00e9 simb\u00f3lico porque se refere aos 3 cromossomos 21 que caracteriza a s\u00edndrome de Down (21\/3).<\/p>\n<p>O projeto ganhou for\u00e7a depois que o Senador Lindbergh Farias apresentou um projeto de lei no Senado para que a data entrasse para o calend\u00e1rio nacional.<\/p>\n<p>Com f\u00f4lego renovado, a Miss\u00e3o do Brasil junto \u00e0s Na\u00e7\u00f5es Unidas foi buscar apoio de outros pa\u00edses como co-patrocinadores do documento.<\/p>\n<p>Esta tarde em reuni\u00e3o plen\u00e1ria da Terceira Comiss\u00e3o a proposta brasileira foi lida e adotada por consenso, tendo tido o apoio de mais de 80 pa\u00edses.
