Actions in Support of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
<\/strong>
Citizens with disabilities in countries that have either not signed or ratified the UN Convention yet, are organizing some events for Saturday, May 3rd – the day when it will come into force – to raise awareness of the population on the importance of the treaty and motivate their governments to ratify it as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

In Brazil, organizations of human rights and disabilities, as well as persons individually, are collecting signatures for a petition through a web page. The petition is meant to speed up the ratification of the Convention. During the events on May 3rd, more signatures will be added to the petition, which then will be forwarded to the National Congress, where the Convention awaits ratification.<\/p>\n

Acciones de apoyo a la Convenci\u00f3n sobre los Derechos de las Personas con Discapacidad<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ciudadanos con discapacidad en pa\u00edses que todav\u00eda no firmaron o no ratificaron la Convenci\u00f3n de las Naciones Unidas est\u00e1n organizando algunos eventos para el s\u00e1bado 3 de mayo – el d\u00eda en que entrar\u00e1 en vigencia – para concienciar la populaci\u00f3n respeto la importancia del tratado y motivar sus gobiernos que lo ratifiquen lo antes posible.<\/p>\n

En Brasil, organizaciones de derechos humanos y discapacidad, as\u00ed como personas individualmente, est\u00e1n colectando firmas para una petici\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s de una p\u00e1gina web. La petici\u00f3n se destina a acelerar la ratificaci\u00f3n de la Convenci\u00f3n. Durante los eventos del 3 de mayo, m\u00e1s firmas van a ser a\u00f1adidas a la petici\u00f3n, que entonces ser\u00e1 encaminada al Congreso Nacional, donde la Convenci\u00f3n espera la ratificaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

A peti\u00e7\u00e3o se destina a acelerar a ratifica\u00e7\u00e3o da Conven\u00e7\u00e3o.
