Os pilares te\u00f3ricos embasadores desta pesquisa est\u00e3o consolidados nos par\u00e2metros conceituais s\u00f3cio-hist\u00f3ricos de Lev Vygotski, com focaliza\u00e7\u00e3o em seus pressupostos sobre o desenvolvimento humano, entendido como processo de internaliza\u00e7\u00e3o das pr\u00e1ticas s\u00f3cio-culturais; em sua concep\u00e7\u00e3o sobre media\u00e7\u00e3o, vista como base do desenvolvimento das fun\u00e7\u00f5es psicol\u00f3gicas superiores; no conceito de zona de desenvolvimento proximal e sua rela\u00e7\u00e3o com ensino, aprendizagem e desenvolvimento. A pesquisa, tamb\u00e9m, encontra fundamentos na proposta te\u00f3rica de Reuven Feuerstein, especialmente no que concerne \u00e0 experi\u00eancia de aprendizagem mediada (EAM), entendida como condi\u00e7\u00e3o fundamental para mudan\u00e7as na estrutura cognitiva da pessoa; e nas categorias mediadoras apontadas pelo pr\u00f3prio autor, que se constituem condi\u00e7\u00e3o b\u00e1sica para caracterizar uma intera\u00e7\u00e3o mediadora. Esta investiga\u00e7\u00e3o, que se caracteriza como estudo de caso, foi desenvolvida junto a tr\u00eas professoras, respectivamente da primeira, segunda e terceira s\u00e9ries do Ensino Fundamental, de uma escola particular da cidade de Veran\u00f3polis, no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, no segundo semestre do ano letivo de 2001. Foram realizadas entrevistas semi-estruturadas, observa\u00e7\u00f5es e filmagens em sala de aula, focalizando o professor em sua a\u00e7\u00e3o mediadora. A an\u00e1lise dos resultados revelou que o contexto social da sala de aula \u00e9 um espa\u00e7o privilegiado de sistematiza\u00e7\u00e3o do saber, no qual ocorre a media\u00e7\u00e3o do professor. Esta media\u00e7\u00e3o se caracteriza pela presen\u00e7a, na maioria das vezes, n\u00e3o intencional, de crit\u00e9rios de media\u00e7\u00e3o apontados por Feuerstein, com incid\u00eancia e
